ASL/Deaf Studies Program

This program introduces students to the history, characteristics, and needs of deaf and hard of hearing people along with American Sign Language.

Graduates of this program would work in the public school system, kindergarten through twelfth grade, as teachers assistants. Graduates of this program would also be able to tutor deaf and hard of hearing children and provide other support services for deaf and hard of hearing children, work as job coaches for deaf and hard of hearing adults, in rehabilitation facilities with deaf and hard of hearing persons, and in any situation where skill in American Sign Language is required. This program would also assist interpreters to improve their general interpreting skills by providing additional language training.
