American Sign Language Club

This group provides social/recreational activities for deaf and hard of hearing students and bridges the gap between the deaf and hard of hearing and others. It promotes a College-wide awareness of the deaf and hard of hearing. It also facilitates students in the Interpreter Preparation Program with skills development and introduces sign language to interested individuals.

This group maintains the College's archery range and hosts fundraising tournaments.

Auto Body Repair

This club is for students involved in automotive studies, especially those in the Auto Body Repair program. Social functions and off-campus trips are scheduled. This club is a VICA chapter and has competed in state and national competitions. It also conducts car shows and auto raffles.

Automotive Club

This group functions to improve the image of students and professional auto mechanics by continued support of the WIASE Mechanic Certification program of energy conservation and environmental protection in automotive service areas. The organization also strives to assist with the re-education of automotive instructors and technicians in the new techniques and to support John A. Logan College and its academic and technological training programs.

LifeSavers of JALC

Lifesavers is a peer support suicide and crisis prevention program developed to train young adults to be caring listeners in their interactions with their peers. It involves a team approach to helping people cope healthfully with the challenges of drugs and alcohol, peer and family relationships, sexual issues, violence, academic problems, death, grieving, aggression, anxiety and suicide. Phi Theta Kappa

The local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa was chartered on January 25, 1970. This national organization was founded in 1918, and is the community college equivalent of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honorary scholastic fraternity. Phi Theta Kappa provides recognition for academic excellence as well as opportunity for intellectual enrichment, social activities, and service to the College. Membership is by invitation.

Student Leadership Program

Voters Registration Form Procedures

Under Reauthorization of the Higher Education Amendments, institutions who receive Title IV funding must make a “good faith” effort to inform their Degree seeking students of voter’s registration information. JALC provides its student population with voter’s information in a number of ways:

  1. Student Senate will take responsibility for spearheading voters’ registration drives on campus.
  2. Students can follow this link www.election.state.il.us to the Illinois State Board of Elections website. It offers all the facts and registering information a student needs to become a registered voter.
